Seedy Nut Butter
Yield: 1 1/2 cups
Preparation Time: 15-25 minutes
Ingredients:
☆ 3 cups preferred whole raw unsalted nuts (we used 1 cup of almonds, 1 cup of peanuts, 1 cup walnuts)
☆ 4 tbsp chia seeds
☆ 4 tbsp hemp hearts
☆ 4 tbsp ground or whole flaxseed
☆ 2 tbsp sesame seeds
☆ pinch salt - optional. Instructions:
Roast your nuts at 150 degrees celsius for approx. 10 minutes, check them frequently as you don't want to burn them. They should have a golden colour when ready.
Leave to cool for 5 minutes before adding into a food processor.
Processing from nut to butter takes 10-15 minutes depending on your processor. Scrape the sides every few minutes.
As the oils from the nuts release you should have a smooth, runny paste like mixture.
Add in the seeds and proccess for another couple of minutes.
Once all combined, transfer to a jar and keep in the fridge for 4 weeks (out of the fridge is ok too but you may find the nuts go rancid and the flavour becomes bitter).
Notes:
Add whatever nuts you desire, you can use 3 cups of the same nut such as almonds.
The first step, roasting is not necessary but gives the nut butter a delicious flavour.
Be patient when processing, it can take a while for the nuts to turn into butter.
